My flatmate is registerd as Independant for some reason. But as a result, the republican party of Kentucky has been sending him hate mail.
Oh, not hate mail directly at him. Just mail that is completely hateful in tone. Its also glossy and two sided..None too cheap.
I'd like to share two we've gotten, and though none of them uses the name "Rand Paul", they sure like attacking Jack Conway for made up problems!
The first one has a biig, expensive COAL on the front, in shiny graphics. It has this whole chunk fileld with an "uenarned income" paper. I wish more republican politicians would file theirs. Anyway, This flyer claims that Conway hates kentucky coal. Why? Well, its because he has received appx. $300 total from Kinder Morgan since 2008.I should note that this is really small in size ,and has zero explination as to any thing else on it, or on how the form is to be read. he also has a small entry from Chevron. So the republicans are claiming that Conway wants to "kill kentucky coal" because he received a ridiculously small amount of money from natural gas..NATURAL GAS isnt killing kentucky jobs. Sheesh. Oh, and theres still that money from Chevron...so yeah, thats all sorts of insane.
Basically, it says that if we vote conway, he will singlehanded bankrupt Kentucky and 75% of its workers because he favors expanding natural gas...Oookay then, Moving on!
Today we got the more inflamatory of the two. On the cover it has a picture of a guy at dusk in shillouette, bowing his head at a cross-gravestone. And this text is overlaid: "On this day, Liberal Jack Conway thinks you owe the government more money."
On the back, first thing it says is a quote: "...he [Jack Conway] favors a modified federal-estate tax..." (the courier-jounral, 7/10/10)

To the right is a picture of conway staring to the side, with the phrase "LIBERAL JACK CONWAY" in big letters under it. Under the letters is a black and white picture of a man, a woman, and a crying child. The picture serves no purpose there, and infact seems to forget its talking about estate tax...
As im sure you all know, this is nosnens. Also, how many times did he call jack conway "Liberal Jack Conway"? Like seven. Calling the estate-tax "Death Tax" is pretty childish, as is to be expected. And I honestly wonder, who are these "family farmers?" It probably doesnt mean the people at Fancy Farm. And small businesses? Im guessing that doesnt mean my friend's choked off truck company.
As usual, this level of spiteful rhetoric is insulting to the intelligence of any rightwinger or independant who sees this. We know damn well that the estate tax wont go up for most people, only for rich jerks who want to take it with them. As his supporters attack people in blind rage for things that arent true, we are subject to the most awful sort of games from Rand Paul, pretending his side is the paragon of good.
I tire of this game, and im tired of anyone who thinks we should give up. Im not going to sit around and let a democratic hissy fit shove people liek Rand Paul into office.
I have enough to be pissed off about for the democrats. Im gay, and they sure havent done much for me. But you know what? At least they dont want me to be killed. The republicans do. So any democrats here, there, thinking about staying home on tuesday? Thanks, for helping them succeed in destroying our country and making life even harder for LGBT members. We really need the extra shit right now from people who pretend to support us when we can help them get ahead.
Get to the polls, if only to keep these EVIL, twisted tea party monsters out. If you give a damn, even the smallest bit about ANY gay person, you will go to the polls and ensure the party of bigoted monsters doesn't get the chance to undo what little progress we've made.
We came to YOUR assistance when democrats wanted a supermajority. Don't leave all of us hanging like our politicians have, just so you can hold your breath at a system you don't like. Itll get worse if you stay home. A LOT worse. Im already afraid to go out in public with my boyfriend, you know where worse brings you after that? I do.
If you don't want to help ensure that those most at risk right now from a toxic political system, most at risk from its hellish violence...Leave. We don't want turncoats, we don't want fair weather friends. Thats what republicans do. Get your head out of the sand, get on your coat and go vote for a damn democrat, okay? Stop playing these irritating games, as it'll only get worse with each seat we lose, it'll only get worse with each pissed off liberal staying home.
And Id rather get through 2012 without being lynched. They always come after the bottoms first, ask Rome. Stop screwing around, go to the polls, and then come back and demand the politician you voted for do the right thing. Dont be a baby, don't be a child. Dont act like them.
Update: I referred to my boyfriend as my "Flatmate" at the top of this diary. Because I forgot where i was, and that i could be open here. I didnt do this to make a point, it was just a lucky, horrible coincidence. I dont like lying as a matter of course about someone I care about. It sucks. And its become almost involuntary at this point.
