This will be short. But its quite amazing really. For the second time in history, we have eradicated a virus.
Rinderpest was a very destructive virus that infected cattle, and even the wild varieties of such. It was almost always fatal, and shared a lot in common with measals and canine distemper. This virus cannot harm any longer.
On may 25, 2011, the World Organisation for Animal Health announced that we have completely and utterly eradicated this horrific microorganism. For the second time in history, we have conquered a virus.
My cheers go out to all the very smart folks for leading us to our second victory over an adversary that we couldnt even detect for a billion years. Nothing I can say can improve upon this event.
